Mahindra has finally revealed the price for the Thar Roxx 4×4 variant. The 5 door Thar Roxx was launched in India on August 15, 2024. Only the price for the 4×2 variant was announced as Rs 13.99 lakh (ex showroom) price for the base diesel variant. Meanwhile, the Mahindra Thar Roxx 4×4 diesel variant has a price tag of Rs 18.79 lakh (ex-showroom) price. Let us also inform you that the top-spec Thar Roxx AX7L 4×4 automatic variant is priced at ₹22.49 lakh (ex-showroom).
The 4×4 variant has a price hike of Rs 1.8-2 lakhs compared to its 4×2 variant although several features like the infotainment system or the sunroof as well as safety equipment like airbags are the same for both the variants. The price difference is only due to its 4×4 off-roading capabilities. Because this system comes with “4XPLOR” system which has an electronic locking differential as well as snow, sand and mud terrain mode along with several other components required for off-roading.
Mahindra Thar Roxx 4×4 Specifications
The Thar Roxx 4×4 is powered by 2.2 liter mHawk diesel engine producing 175hp and 370Nm of torque and this is little more than that of the 4×2 variant which features a lower power output of 152hp and 330Nm. Furthermore, the 4×4 has smart crawl that acts as a off-road cruise control system between 2.5kph and 30kph which enables easy climb on inclined surfaces. Another feature offered by the 4×4 variant is the “intelliturn” which facilitates making tight turns by locking the rear inner wheel based on steering direction. It is enabled when the speed is under 15kph and can be on until 15 seconds.

On one hand where the 3-door Thar has 4×4 options for both diesel and petrol variants, the five door Thar does not have 4×4 option for the petrol variant. The MX5 Variant has several features like a wireless charger, tyre pressure monitor, single pane sunroof, leatherette seats, Auto-dimming IRVM and front parking sensor. Moreover, it features a 10.25 inch touch screen infotainment system which also has wireless Android auto and wired Apple carplay. In addition to all these features, features like automatic climate control, electric parking break, digital instrument cluster as well as connected car features are in the AX5L variant. Moreover, the top specifications of the AX7L variant are 19-inch alloys, panoramic sunroof, 360 degree camera, power folding ORVMs, powered driver seat and ventilated front seats.

The Thar Roxx price has been set such that it falls in the range of Mahindra 3 door Thar as well as the Scorpio N.
