Baba Siddique who was NCP leader as well as the Former Minister of Maharashtra was shot by three unidentified culprits which led to his death. The killing took place on Saturday evening when the politician was outside his son Zeeshan Siddique’s office which is located near Colgate ground in Nirmal Nagar, Bandra East, Mumbai. Zeeshan is right now an MLA from Vandre East. As per reports, a total of three bullets were fired at Siddique which directly hit his stomach as well as chest leading to fatal injury. Although he was immediately taken to Lilavati hospital, he could not survive and doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
It was confirmed by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde that the politician has passed away. The Mumbai police have told in a statement to the CM that two of the assailants have been arrested and another one is still on the run. One of them is from Uttar Pradesh and the other is from Haryana. Meanwhile, an FIR has been registered at the Nirmal Nagar police station and the CID has also got involved in the investigation. Mumbai police have assured that they are actively trying to catch the third suspect and that the case will be taken to a fast-track court to ensure resolution as soon as possible. Further details regarding the killing will be known after further investigation followed by which security has been tightened in Bandra.

Baba Siddique was constantly under security for the past few days as he had received a death threat 15 days before the killing took place. He was provided with Y category security which had a security personnel guard to protect him. He is well known for his close connections with Bollywood celebrities including Shahrukh Khan, Sanjay Dutt, Salman Khan and several other biggies. Siddique is popular for hosting iftar parties which are attended by several actors every year. The party was first held in the 1980s and since then has been a notable trend in the entertainment industry.
Who is Baba Siddique?
Siddique had recently joined NCP led by Ajit Pawar whereas he was formerly a Congress party leader till 2023. His Political career began with the National Students Union of India (NSUI) from where he then became a municipal corporator from 1992 to 1997. Let us tell you that he has been the MLA from Bandra West three times in 1999, 2004, 2009. However, he lost the 2014 Maharashtra assembly elections leading to the victory of BJP’s Ashish Shelar. Moreover, Siddique has been the Minister of State for Food and Civil Supplies, Labour, Food and Drug Administration (FDA) as well as Consumer Protection. Other than that he has served as the Chairman of the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA)’s Mumbai Board between 2000-2004.
