Alia Bhatt’s latest action drama Jigra seems to have a good growth rate at the box office on its second day of release. The film that was released on 11 October had a very disappointing opening at the Box Office because the day one collection was Rs 4.55 crore. However, day 2 collection of Jigra is Rs 6.50 crore according to Sacnilk. That is a huge jump of 42% and indicates a growing trend. In two days, the film has collected a domestic net collection of rupees 11 crore and if the trend continues then Jigra will have a good lifetime collection.
Although Jigra’s trailer made the fans excited for the movie, the film has failed to impress the audience as well as the critic in both the aspects of story and performance. The film is in fact Alia Bhatt’s lowest when it comes to opening day collection in a decade. Talking about occupancy, the original Hindi version saw 30.10% with around 2800 shows across the nation. In Chennai, the film had the highest occupancy of 79.50% which is running 28 shows. While Bengaluru has seen an occupancy of 60.25% with 196 shows over all. Hyderabad has a lower occupancy of 44% followed by 43.75% in Pune. Delhi NCR on the other hand has 780 number of shows while the occupancy is very low with 24.75%. The lowest occupancy was seen in Surat with just 10.5% and Mumbai has 512 shows with 38% occupancy.
Jigra sees Zero percent occupancy here
The Telugu version of the film is seeing serious downfall and isn’t attracting any audience because on day 1 and day 2, the total earning of the dubbed version is just Rs 5 lakh. Moreover, in some areas like Nizamabad and Warangal the show had 0% occupancy. Due to which several shows were cancelled for day 2. There are several negative reviews about the film but looking at the day to collection it seems like the movie might catch the momentum. The fate of the film will be decided in a few days only.
Did Jigra exploit box office numbers?
Meanwhile, in this crucial time the film has seen a huge controversy started by Divya Khossla, a bollywood actress as well as the wife of the T-Series owner. Divya took on Instagram and posted a story calling out Alia Bhatt and Karan Johar for manipulating the box office collection for Jigra. She revealed a photo of the empty theatre and accused the team of getting paid reviews done as well as buying tickets just to exploit the box office numbers. This controversy will surely affect the film at a large scale. Let’s take a look at what Divya Khossla said about Jigra.
