At the NVIDIA AI Summit held in Mumbai, Reliance Industries announced Reliance and NVIDIA partnership to build AI infrastructure in India using Reliance’s digital infrastructure. Chairman Mukesh Ambani highlighted that India will soon become one of the world’s largest intelligence markets. Ambani, speaking alongside NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang, talked about India’s vast potential in artificial intelligence (AI) and the significance of the country’s youth and talent in bringing this change.

While talking at the summit, Ambani said that the country’s future is promising, stating that “India will be one of the biggest intelligence markets. Chip giant Nvidia founder CEO Jensen Huang agreed to these statements, as India has transformed from a software-exporting nation to one poised to lead in AI. He said in a statement that “In the future, India is going to export AI. I hope to partner with all of you to enable India to be at the center of this new industrial revolution,” Huang said.

Components required to lead in AI

Huang listed the essential components required to lead in AI, which includes technology, data, and infrastructure. “We are partnering to build AI infrastructure here in India,” Huang expressed, stressing that India’s large population of users provides a unique advantage in creating an AI-driven ecosystem.

Talking about data, Ambani talked about an important role of Reliance in India’s digital transformation. The nation with its extensive 4G, 5G, and broadband networks, has one of the best digital infrastructures globally. He mentioned the cost-effectiveness of data in India and marked that it is far cheaper compared to global markets. He added that while in countries like the US, customers pay $5 (around Rs 420) per GB of data and the global average is $3.5 (about Rs 295) per GB, in India, it costs roughly 15 cents (Rs 12-13) to consume a GB of data. “In a few years, we will surprise the world with what India and Indians can achieve in the intelligence market,” he confidently gave a statement. He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his leadership for positioning India as a premier digital society, crucial in driving technological innovation.

NVIDIA upskilled Indian IT professionals

Huang shared similar energy, acknowledging the country’s IT prowess and informing that NVIDIA has already upskilled 200,000 Indian IT professionals in AI. He also talked about his experience with Prime Minister Modi and revealed that he was one of the first global leaders to recognize the importance of AI and ask for a comprehensive briefing on the subject.

The partnership between Reliance and NVIDIA is a significant step in positioning India at the forefront of the global AI industry, leveraging India’s digital strength and vast talent pool to foster growth in the new intelligence age.
