Prime Minister Narendra Modi apologized to elder citizens above the age of 70 years who are living in Delhi and West Bengal, referring to the States’ evil politics. PM Modi was delivering his speech at the all India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in New Delhi, where he was talking about healthcare initiators that also included Ayushman Bharat Yojana. During which he said that he won’t be able to serve the elderly people in West Bengal and Delhi as both the states have refused to implement the Centre’s Ayushman Bharat Yojana. He further confirmed that the elderly in both states won’t be able to enjoy the benefits of the scheme due to political reasons.
Modi said in his speech that, the political parties lack “human attitude” and are using a political wall that is preventing him from serving them. He stated that these states’ governments hinder the national health initiative, depriving senior citizens of medical benefits due to political motives. He said
“I apologize to all the elderly people above 70 years of age in Delhi and all the elderly people above 70 years of age in West Bengal that I will not be able to serve you. I apologize to them that I will know that you are suffering, I will get the information that you are not well but I will not be able to help you and the reason is that the government in Delhi and the government in West Bengal are not joining the Ayushman Yojana. Elderly in Delhi, Bengal won’t be able to benefit from Ayushman Bharat as their governments are not implementing it due to political reasons,”
“The tendency to oppress the sick people of your own state for your political interests is against any humane attitude and hence I apologize to the elderly people of West Bengal, I apologize to the elderly people of Delhi, I can serve the people of the country, but the walls of the political profession are preventing me from serving the elderly people of Delhi, and West Bengal,”
Let us tell you that Ayushman Bharat aims to provide to all citizens aged 70 and above, free health insurance coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh per year per family for hospitalization, specifically benefiting low-income families across India. Moreover, Modi noted the presence of 14,000 Jan Aushadhi Kendras nationwide, which makes affordable medicines available to citizens, saving an estimated Rs 30,000 crore on essential medications. However, the states of Delhi and Bengal are not joining the program which will heavily be a disadvantage to the people of both States.
I extend my apologies to senior citizens aged 70 and above residing in Delhi and West Bengal.
Unfortunately, due to the state governments' decision not to participate in the Ayushman Bharat Yojana, I will be unable to provide assistance.
