Samsung may finally introduce affordable foldable smartphones with its Samsung Galaxy Z Flip FE. After foldable devices were launched in the market, several customers wanted to buy it but could not because of its high price tag. There was a lot of demand for the Fan Edition models of the foldable series as the FE versions are cheaper. Hence, now with the Fan Edition (FE) model, the flagship smartphone may become more accessible. The rumour spread after a Korean blogger, yeux1122, hinted that the Galaxy Z Flip FE, Samsung’s first budget foldable, is under works.
Expected price of Galaxy Z Flip FE
Rumours suggest that the launch will take place along with the Galaxy Z Flip6 or Fold6 which will launch in 2025. Talking about the price we can expect a 20 to 30% lower price than the flagship smartphone. As the FE version is expected to closely resemble the Z flip 5 and flip 6 in look and feel, the FE model may also carry the price of Z flip 5. Let us tell you that further Cost-cutting will be made by using components from its previous offerings, such as last-generation chips, use of reduced RAM or storage, and Optics may be less advanced than premium models.
Since the price of Samsung Galaxy Z flip 5 was around Rs 1,09,999 and including potential cost reductions, the Z Flip FE may be launched for around Rs 55,000 and Rs 75,000 in India. An FE version of their foldable series has been long anticipated by Samsung fans. Samsung was the first major smartphone brand to launch foldable devices, maintaining leadership across six generations. Moreover, Samsung recently stated that
“We are considering ways to lower entry barriers so that more customers can actually experience foldable products, given the high satisfaction among existing foldable users.”
which further backs the Z Flip FE rumor.
Features and specifications
Talking about the operating system and software it is expected that the FE model will likely launch with Android 15 based OneUI 7. Furthermore, Samsung may provide its usual extended software support, ensuring longevity. It is expected to maintain the high quality of the display and hinge as that cannot be compromised for cost cutting or anything else. Moreover, Z flip ft may feature a cover display and a 6.7 inch foldable full screen. It will probably be water resistant as well, with potential IPX8 certified for water resistance.
A Samsung executive said that Galaxy Z Fold series phones will continue to become lighter, slimmer, and have better cameras. At the same time, he also said that Galaxy Z Flip series phones will have a differentiated, premium cover screen design. Which makes the upcoming Z flip FE even more anticipating. Other reports suggest Samsung might release a Galaxy Z Flip 7 FE in the near future, though specific timelines remain unconfirmed.
