Thalapathy Vijay’s GOAT Movie is surely going to create some amazing history in the entertainment industry. The movie that was released on September 5 2024 is receiving a lot of love from the audience. It’s been 17 days since the movie hit the theatres. GOAT movie’s pan-India gross box office collection on day 17 is Rs 4.5 crore which takes the total gross collection of GOAT in India to Rs 283.5 crore and total net collection of the movie in India to Rs 238.35 crore. The movie bagged Rs 5.1 crore gross worldwide on Day 17.
Given that the movie crossed an earning of Rs 100 crore in just 3 days, it was expected that the movie would easily cross the Rs 200 crore mark and continue to grow in trend. But in a turn of events, after crossing the Rs 200 mark, a decline was witnessed in the box office numbers of the film. As on day 14 Pan India gross was 3.5 crore, on day 15 Pan India gross was 3 crore and on day 16 Pan India gross was 2.5 crore. However, seeing that the numbers on Saturday (day 17) were good, the film might pick up again. Talking about occupancy, on September 21, we saw 39.15% occupancy for Tamil whereas Hindi occupancy stood at 16.89% on the same day.
GOAT Film hit or flop?
While the film Greatest Of All Time (GOAT) is running in the theatres, it has got clashed with “Yudhra” which was released on September 20 and had a promising start. Despite all that going on GOAT seems to be doing well on its own with its story line and another important ingredient that is cameos. The film features mass stars like Ajith, Vijayakanth that attracts a wider fan base who would love to see your collaboration between these stars. GOAT is surely a hit although the film may not be to your liking if you are expecting an extraordinary spy adventure on a global basis but you can expect a banger climax. Looking at overall reviews, people are loving everything about the film as this may be one of the last films Vijay might do before he steps into the political world.
The film revolves around a Spy agent who was assigned a task post his retirement after working at the Special Anti Terrorist Squad (SATS). Meanwhile, it gets interesting when the mission gets linked to his past. It’s a recovery mission for a covert team of agents led by Gandhi (Vijay) against the villain Rajiv Menon (Mohan). Another special thing about the film is that you’ll see Vijay playing dual roles which makes it interesting.
Director Venkat Prabhu in an interview said that she had initially planned for the sun and father rules to be played by different actors but later on when he learnt about the day in technology he was influenced by it. “Till ‘Jawan’, we saw father and son characters played by the same actor, but I wanted to do it differently. To use the de-ageing technology, we needed a big budget and that’s when AGS [Entertainment] came in. I had initially narrated the idea to Vijay when he was doing ‘Varisu’ and he asked me to finish my project Custody first,” he added.
