The long awaited Korean drama Squid Game Season 2 will soon be out. Netflix has released Squid Game 2’s new teaser on YouTube that shows the return of Gong Yoo, the mysterious salesman who recruits game players, who are desperate for money, by offering them to play Ddakji- a traditional Korean game typically played among children where folded paper tiles are used to flip the opponent’s paper tiles by striking it with your own.
The teaser starts with showing the every day routine of the salesman starting with showering, dressing and preparing for the day along with an important suitcase that has red and blue square paper tiles. He is also seen keeping the unique visiting card that he gives out to potential game players. Then he reappears at the subway station where the last season started. He then starts to invite an unseen person to play the game with him. He then says his iconic dialogue “Sir, would you like to play a game with me?” With the popular song of Squid Game playing in the background. And the video ends with ‘Get Back In The Game’ written on the screen.
After the huge success of Squid Game Season 1, fans have been eagerly waiting for the next season to arrive. Finally, Netflix has revealed that season 2 will be released on Netflix on December 26, 2024. In another special teaser that Netflix released earlier, we can see that actor Lee Jung Jae (Gi-Hun), who made quite an impression in the last first season, has again joined the game. Along with the past characters a few new editions have been made in the cast list that includes Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Park Gyu-young, Park Sung-hoon, Jo Yu-ri, and others which call for a new storyline, alliances or rivals within the game.
The teaser that was released on October 1, starts with the title “you are invited” and fans are excited for what is going to happen. Season 2 is expected to dive deeper into the salesman’s backstory, motivation and his relationship with the front man and the game. As per the official synopsis, it is hinted that Gi-Hun who won the game in the first season is determined to end the deadly competition. He realizes that he may have to re enter the game to get his hands on the people behind the game.
Squid game has been confirmed to return for its third installment which will be the final season in 2025 which means there are going to be a lot of major plots that will lead to the final season. The ongoing mysteries surrounding the front man the head of the organisation the people behind the game and the salesman will likely derive the plot as Gi-Hun is set on a mission to uncover the truth behind the deadly game.
