In a late-night operation on October 26, a raid was conducted at Janwada Farmhouse Hyderabad following a tip-off by someone. Cyberabad’s Special Operations Team (SOT) along with officials from the State Excise Department and Mokila police discovered 11 liters of unauthorized foreign liquor and 10 bottles of Indian liquor, all allegedly being served at an “unauthorized rave party” held on the premises. The property, reportedly is under the name of Raj Pakala, the brother-in-law of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) Party Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR).

According to DCP Srinivas of the Cyberabad SOT, if one wants to host parties where foreign liquor is to be served, then they must take permission from the Excise Department as per state regulations. Moreover, the permissible limit is set at 5.5 liters, and they have seized for quantity of it than the permissible limit. “Strict adherence to limits and permits is required, and we found violations on both counts in this case,” the DCP stated.

Furthermore, the case became even more sensitive after Madduri Vijay, a guest at the gathering, was tested positive for cocaine use. Following the preliminary test, he has been booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. He was then sent for further medical testing. Officials, however, clarified that no drugs were discovered on-site, even after a thorough search with sniffer dogs. A total of 43 individuals, including family members, were reportedly present at the venue, and police have issued notices to both Mr. Pakala and Mr. Vijay as part of an ongoing investigation.

The raid on Raj Pakala’s farmhouse has sparked political tension, and Congress leader M.A. Faheem has called for a thorough investigation of K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) including drug test as his family also attended the event. However, minister and BRS leader T. Harish Rao called the raid as politically motivated, accusing Congress of using the incident to damage KTR’s reputation by portraying a family gathering as a rave party. Rao asserted that neither KTR nor his wife was present, dismissing allegations of drug use at the event. The case is under investigation right now.
