A devastating incident has occurred at walmart bakery where a 19-year-old Gursimran Kaur, a Walmart employee, was found dead inside a large walk-in oven in Halifax, Canada. Kaur’s mother who also worked at the same store discovered her body on the evening of October 19. As per latest news, the Nova Scotia police along with other local investigators are currently investigating the case, while Kaur’s family is mourning her death.

According to Halifax Regional Police, they got a call at around 9:30 p.m. reporting an incident at Walmart on Mumford Road. When police reached the scene, they discovered Kaur’s body in a large walk-in oven in the bakery department. There’s a lot of unsolved puzzles in the case as of initial reports and authorities have yet to determine the reason and manner of death, which will be revealed on further investigation.

What actually happened with Gursimran Kaur

According to Kaur’s mother, she noticed that her daughter was not around for a noticeable amount of time. Followed by which she began searching for her and tried to call her, but it went unanswered. When she couldn’t find her for a long time she stated panicking and went asking other co-workers if they had seen her daughter, fearing the worst when she couldn’t locate her. Finally, the police were called who found her body in the large walk-in oven. Let us tell you that Kaur and her mother, originally from India, had worked together at Walmart for two years.

The GoFundMe campaign, willing to help cover funeral costs and support the family, has reportedly raised over $188,000 as of Friday morning, far exceeding its initial goal of $50,000. “Imagine the horror that her mother experienced upon discovering her daughter inside the oven,” read a message on a community-organized fundraiser page. The Maritime Sikh Society, which has been providing support to the family, stated that Kaur’s father and brother are in India, and efforts are being made to bring them to Canada for her last rites. The society has also arranged for psychological counseling for those affected by the unfortunate loss of life, with the community rallying together to support Kaur’s mother in this time of grief.

Walmart Canada, which has closed the Halifax store indefinitely, expressed deep condolence and sadness over the incident. In a statement to the media, the company assured that they are cooperating fully with the ongoing investigation. Walmart Canada has also expressed grief counseling and virtual care resources to employees and assured that staff will continue to get their salary during the closure. If the closure continues, Walmart will find alternative work arrangements for affected employees.
