The BRICS summit will be held in Russia from October 22-23 and ahead of which Russian President Vladimir Putin states that the BRICS group is not against anyone and is absolutely not Anti-West. In a conversation with foreign journalists, he highlighted several topics including the BRICS and Russia Ukraine war. While talking about BRICS, he talked about PM Modi and said that BRICS was never meant to be against anyone like PM Modi has also said. He said Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also stated that the group is not Anti-Western but simply Non-Western.

He also stressed on the point that the organization’s doors are open for new members and that the growth of the organization will benefit even the non-member countries economically. While addressing the ongoing Russia Ukraine war and India’s role in peace talks between Russia and Ukraine, Putin called PM Modi his “friend” and said that every time he talks with Modi, Modi raises the matter and expresses his considerations over the issue. He further said that Russia is thankful to him for doing that. PM Modi had recently talked to Putin on the phone about the war, followed by which now Putin has stated that

“Russia is interested in resolving it peacefully, it was not us who stopped the negotiations but the Ukrainian side”

Moreover, he criticized NATO along with the United States as well as the Western Nations for fighting the war on behalf of Ukraine which is why it is difficult to predict the timeline of the war. He said that Ukraine is not capable of handling precision weapon delivery systems on its own, and it is all done by NATO professionals. However, he said that we will win the war, the Russian Army has become one of the most combat effective and high tech armies in the world and in the end NATO will get tired of “waging this war against us”.

Another interesting question was asked to Putin about the Indian movies to which he said that Indian movies are very popular in Russia and also said that Russia has a TV channel dedicated to Indian movies. Apart from that, he also said that if Indian filmmakers are interested, then Russia can find common grounds to promote them in the country. Adding to which he said that “Pharmaceuticals is another sector where we can collaborate,” he added, expressing his interest to discuss these matters with PM Modi.
